10 Amazing Health Benefits of Sleep

Benefits of Proper Sleeping

Sleep Makes you feel awesome. Proper sleeping is the major part of Healthy Life."Sleep used to be kind of ignored, like parking our car in a garage and picking it up in the morning" says David Rapport, MD, director of the NYU Sleep Disorders Program. Here are some benefits of sleep which different scientists have discovered.

  1.  MEMORY
Your mind is quite busy in noticing things around you when you snooze. Proper sleeping strengthens your ability of learning when you are awake. This procedure is called consolidation. "If you are trying to learn something, whether it is physical or mental, you learn it to a certain point by practice But something happens while you sleep that makes you learn it easier." says Dr Rapoport associate professor at NYU Langone Medical Center. In simple words if you are trying to learn something difficult and new, proper sleeping is the way to success.

    2.  LIVE LONGER

According to a research, too much or not enough sleep can cause 72% chances of death earlier than the moderate sleepers. It's not clear that it is a cause or it is the effect. Sleep also effects the quality of life. "Many things that we take for granted are affected by sleep, If you sleep better, you can certainly live better. It’s pretty clear." says Raymond Jean, MD, director of sleep medicine and associate director of critical care at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York City.

    3.  LOOK ATTRACTIVE

Regular proper sleeping makes you look healthier and attractive. According to 2010 study published in British Medical Journal. The Researcher took photos of the 25 peoples after a period of sleep deprivation and after a normal night's eight hours sleep. The photos were shown to 65 peoples and they rated it on the basis of attractiveness and tiredness. The sleep deprived group scored less score than the normal eight hours sleepers.

    4.  BE A WINNER

Getting proper sleep can enhance your athletic performance. Five swimmers were monitored as a part of a study in 2008, they increased their duration of sleep to 10 hours/day for seven to eight weeks. As a result they could swim faster and reacts more quickly. In simple words three more hours in bed could make us sharper and quicker.

    5.  KEEP YOUR WEIGHT

Looking at your weight can be as simple as a good night's sleep, lack of sleep can make you put on weight by drastically slowing your metabolism down. According to a research in Uppsala in Sweden, the researchers suggested to get plenty of sleep to prevent weight gain.

    6.  CREATIVITY

Get a plenty of sleep before taking easel and paintbrushes or the pen and paper. In addition to consolidation memories, or making them stronger, your brain seems to reorganize or restructure them, which may result in more creativity as well. Researchers at Harvard University found that people seems to be strengthen the emotional components of a memory during sleep, which may help spur the creativity process.

    7.  IMPROVE YOUR GRADES

According to a research in 2010, Children aged 10 to 16 who have sleep disordering breathing which includes snoring, sleep apnea and other types of interrupted breathing during sleep are more likely to have problems in concentrating and learning. This could lead to "Significant Functional Impairment at School", the researcher wrote. In another research college students who haven't got enough sleep have secured worst grades than the one's who got proper sleep."If you’re trying to meet a deadline, you’re willing to sacrifice sleep but it’s severe and reoccurring sleep deprivation that clearly impairs learning." Dr. Rapoport says.

    8.  SHARP ATTENTION

A lack of sleep can result in ADHD-like symptoms in kids, Dr. Rapoport says."Kids don’t react the same way to sleep deprivation as adults do," he adds. "Whereas adults get sleepy, kids tend to get hyperactive." A 2009 in the pediatrics (disease of children) research shows that children who got less than eight hours sleep had become hyperactive, inattentive and impulsive."We diagnose and measure sleep by measuring electrical changes in the brain," Dr. Rapoport says. "So not surprisingly how we sleep affects the brain.

    9.  LOWER STRESS

When we talk about health stress and sleep are nearly one and the same and both can affect cardiovascular health."Sleep can definitely reduce levels of stress, and with that people can have better control of their blood pressure,It’s also believed that sleep effects cholesterol levels, which plays a significant role in heart disease" Dr. Jean says.

  10.  STEER CLEAR OF DEPRESSION

Sleeping well means more to our overall well-being than simply avoiding irritability."A lack of sleep can contribute to depression. A good night’s sleep can really help a moody person decrease their anxiety. You get more emotional stability with good sleep." Dr. Jean says. If you think the long hours put in during the week are the cause of your anxiety or impatience, Dr. Rapoport warns that sleep cannot necessarily be made up during the weekend.
